Honor Cecil: Ban Trophy "Hunting" Worldwide

The murder of Cecil, the African Lion, has sparked global outrage. It's time to channel that outrage into action, so that Cecil's death will not be in vain.

"Hunting" is not a sport. It requires no athleticism, and there is no equality of chance between hunter and hunted. Yes, skills are involved: Tracking, stealth, and marksmanship among them. But they can all be practiced without killing.

Humans, like other animals, kill to sustain themselves. But no other animal kills for boasting. No other animal hangs the heads of its victims on the walls of its den. It's time for us to accept that taking pleasure in causing pain and death to other living beings is simply sick.

It's time to end the sickness. Let's honor Cecil by enacting a world-wide law in his name, and end trophy hunting forever.

Thank you again for signing. Unfortunately, the petition seems to have stalled. Anything you could do to promote this petition would be appreciated, especially as Brigitte Bardot has already contacted the UN to push for a trophy hunting ban; this petition could be very supportive of her efforts.
