Stop cat torture experiments at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW).

Following a successful lawsuit, PETA has obtained dozens of disturbing never-before-seen photographs of a gentle tabby cat named Double Trouble, who was mutilated, left to suffer, and eventually killed as part of a crude taxpayer-funded experiment that is ongoing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW).

Internal records also obtained by PETA show that during a series of highly invasive surgeries—during which she woke up on more than one occasion—Double Trouble had steel coils implanted in her eyes, a stainless steel post screwed into her skull, and electrodes inserted in her brain. UW faculty then applied a toxic chemical to her ears to deafen her and implanted electrical devices deep inside both of her ears.

Records reveal that the surgeries left her sick, depressed, and partially paralyzed, yet experimenters continued to torment Double Trouble by depriving her of food for days at a time in order to force her to cooperate during experimental sessions. After months of this agony, UW staff determined that the experiment was a failure, so they killed and decapitated Double Trouble in order to examine her brain.

PETA has just filed complaints with federal officials calling for investigations into the horrific mistreatment of Double Trouble and asking that funding for these experiments be cut off immediately.
