Senator Mitch McConnell has not been seen publicly since mid-June, after reportedly being rushed to a hospital.
Look, the guy has done all kinds of awful things that have been terrible for America. But we're not monsters, and we hope he makes a full recovery — and maybe even does something to guarantee all Americans the same kind of apparently excellent health coverage that he has.
But he is still a sitting United States senator, and public office requires public accountability.
Kentuckians — and all Americans — deserve a clear update on McConnell's health, his ability to serve, and when he expects to return to public duties.
No senator, of either party, should be allowed to disappear from public view while voters are told simply to trust that everything is fine.
