Every year during Diwali in Delhi and near by areas in India , farmers burns crop stubble due to which the smog level rises. The level goes so high that we cant go out or even breathe inside our houses. Every year the amount of green house gases are increasing due to deforestations, fossil burning , etc. Government is not taking any concrete action.
PM2.5 spiked during Diwali by over 100% compared to the days prior. Delhi PM2.5 levels were already hovering around 25 times higher than the WHO recommended limit during the 3 days prior. But once Diwali started, levels got to over 60 times the WHO recommended limit.
People who had severe Covid-19, especially those who were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), will definitely suffer more due to the pollution. Some are likely to see asthma-like bronchial hyper reactivity.We did navigate through pandemic , but we will surely fall for pollution.
Its time that each one of us take atleast one step ahead and create a chain of reactions before it gets too late.
