Over history, Europe has fought many wars against each other, changing country borders, and minority group all over Europe. But one thing that seems to have an impact on Europeans nowadays, especially Germans. The Russian province (oblast) of Kaliningrad, has been subjected to militarization unseen in years by the Russian Federation. And before World War II, it was called Königsberg. Königsberg was a haven for Germans in Eastern Germany, as it went under the name of East Prussia. But after the war, the Soviets attempted to erase all traces of German history. If you venture there today it seems to not have any German history at all. So that's why I believe that Kaliningrad should be returned to Germany, or made into a new Baltic state (possibly called Prussia?) Many people have pondered about the decision made, one example is Inesis Feldmanis, head of the Faculty of History and Philosophy at the University of Latvia, has been quoted saying that the Soviet Union's annexation of Kaliningrad is "an error in history". So I hope that this petition will raise awareness to bring back the German people to the land that was always theirs.
