SAVE THE FROGS

Frog and salamander populations around the world are in serious decline. Some are sold for the pet trade and dissection, but most are harvested for food. Over 100 million amphibians are harvested from the wild each year. The United States accounts for approximately 15% of the world's amphibian trade. Think Americans don't eat many frog legs? Think again...the United States is the second largest importer of frog legs after France. Two thousand metric tons are imported each year into the U.S., and two thousand metric tons of live frogs are imported for sale in Asian-American markets.

With global warming, toxins in the environment, illegal wildlife trade, and over-harvesting decimating populations of frogs around the world, the last thing we should be doing is importing and eating their legs.

Please ban the importation of frogs and frog products in the United States.
