A horse in Lenoir, North Carolina, was found tied to a tree – starved, dehydrated, and alone. Tragically, despite the best efforts of rescuers, the horse died just days later. Officers have charged the man responsible with felony animal cruelty, but this is not the first time he's faced such charges. In fact, nearly 170 animals have been seized from his care since April.
No one who repeatedly neglects and abuses animals should ever be allowed to own or care for them again. This pattern of cruelty shows a deep need for intervention, not another chance to cause suffering. Authorities must ensure he never acquires animals again.
Sign the petition to demand that this individual receive mandatory mental health counseling and a lifetime ban on animal ownership.
We must recognize that protecting animals also protects communities. Abuse doesn't exist in isolation, it reflects deep psychological distress that requires treatment, not tolerance. North Carolina must act to close the gaps that allow repeat offenders to continue harming animals.
The animals who suffered under his care deserve nothing less than justice and protection.
