REPEAL THE PRICE-ANDERSON NUCLEAR INDUSTRIES INDEMNITY ACT NOW!!

  • av: ryk diemert
  • mottagare: Congress: Make the nuclear industry responsible and liable for ALL foreseen costs of a nuclear catastrophe!

Passed in 1957, the Price-Anderson Act governs liability-related issues for all non-military nuclear facilities constructed in the U.S.A. BEFORE 2026. It establishes a NO FAULT insurance-type system in which the industry is responsible for only the first approximately $12.6 billion (as of 2011).

Imagine a 'Chernobyl', or 'Fukushima', or worse happening here. The sum the industry is currently liable for allows it to survive: No insurance company would take on the nuke industry if it had to cover ALL possible damages and law suits; and the industry KNOWS this.

An unbiased, trained team should calculate ALL foreseen law suits and occurrences, including plume surveys on how far, and in what direction, winds would spread fallout and the populations and arable lands involved;...everything trained nuclear scientists, meteorologists and insurance analysts can foresee using current available technologies.

The nuclear industry must be responsible and liable for ALL of its dirty stuff, just as it makes sure it receives all of its profits!

This, likely, will effectively stop any new nukes from being built.
