Help me enforce fair consequences in animal abuse cases

People abuse, mutilate, torture and murder animals everyday. In the United States, the consequences of these cruel acts are unjust. Some defendants in animal abuse cases get a mere 6 month imprisonment. No being has the right to torture or take the life of another living creature. The people who choose to participate in this awful crime deserve to be sentenced to longer time and pay for their actions. If we continue to give animal abusers low consequences, they will continue in their awful ways. We need longer sentences and higher fines for criminals that abuse animals, and we need it soon.
