No parking hikes and no twilight fees at Smith Point Park!

Beach goers visiting Smith Point Beach in Shirley, NY between 5-8pm will now be charged a "twilight fee" of $4 per car. Along with this new fee, the parking rates have gone up drastically - from $10 - $15 for non residents and from $4 to $8 (a 100% increase!) for residents with a green key. The green key has gone from $20 to $24.

Families are already having a difficult time finding affordable entertainment. Now the one inexpensive summer past time has been taken away from us. Where does it end? A separate fee to go to the Flight 800 Memorial? Oh wait, that seems to already have been done with the new parking fees. These fees are WRONG and UNFAIR to an already struggling community!

The unemployment rate on Long Island is up to 7.4% - is this Steve Bellone's answer to help build Suffolk's economy? We need to sign this petition and let our county government know that we will not stand by and let them depend on the struggling and disappearing middle class to open up our purse strings!
