Death by Coal Ash. Demand an end now!

In the past coal ash was generally released into the atmosphere, but air pollution control standards now require that it be captured prior to release. However, this does not fully do away with coal ash.

Coal ash is usually stored in landfills which, in turn, seeps into ground water supplies. It also affects wildlife and vegetation by putting toxic material into the top layers of the soil.

Sometimes businesses that produce coal ash secretly deposit it into nearby rivers through hidden pipelines. An example of this would be the Dan river in Charlotte, NC which is polluted by Duke Energy. When these rivers get polluted this spreads the negative impact by carrying toxins much further than their immediate dumping spot

It's time to bring an end to this practice through tougher regulations and controls for our environment.
