In the town of Greenville, South Carolina,
something deeply troubling was discovered --
a pet grooming business was repeatedly, viciously abusing dogs behind closed doors.Dogs punched. A tiny pup suspended in a grooming hammock, attacked with no way to escape. Forcing a dog's neck into painful, contorted positions.
And it's all caught on video.Sign the petition to demand that local authorities shut down Corner Pet Grooming for good!When police were alerted to concerns about the business, called Corner Pet Grooming, they reviewed video evidence -- whether it was caught by brave bystanders or surveillance, we don't know.
But what we do know is that video evidence was bad enough that it led to a search of the business, and the arrests of both owners.
In one of the videos, a tiny brown Shih Tzu can be seen suspended in a grooming harness. This dog is completely defenseless, trapped and vulnerable as the female business owner
punches the poor thing -- once, twice, three times.Then,
this woman takes the poor pup's front paw and bends it painfully backwards.Another video shows this woman grabbing a dog by its face and head and shoving it backwards. Authorities who reviewed the tape described the way
the dog's neck snapped back was "unnatural and unsafe."And one more video shows the male business owner giving a dog a bath.
The man punches the dog hard in the side, where its tender ribs are.
He punches the dog again, squarely in its back.
Can you imagine sending your dog to get groomed, expecting the utmost care and attention to your family pet,
just to find out that it was relentlessly beaten and abused?Whatever happens to this couple after their arrest, we need to make sure that their business is shut down and that they can never work with animals again.
It is vitally important that people who own grooming facilities, training facilities, and vet facilities are held to the highest standard. These are professionals who the public trusts with the beloved pets, their own furry family members -- and they must be held accountable.
