After months of effort, Congress finally passed tough new sanctions against Russia, with bipartisan support. And these weren't just symbolic. They were designed to cut off critical money Putin needs to keep his brutal war against Ukraine going.
Trump signed the sanctions into law, raising hopes that Putin might finally face enough economic pressure to come to the negotiating table.
And then Trump essentially "un-signed" them.
Using his authority to waive key provisions, Trump put some of the most important sanctions on hold. The administration says it needs time to study the economic consequences.
Seriously? After all this time, NOW he needs to study them?
In one fell swoop, Trump has greatly weakened economic pressure on Putin and given him more breathing room to continue its war of conquest against Ukraine.
Putin wants Ukraine. He's threatened the rest of Europe. And Trump keeps finding ways to make his life easier.
Enough is enough. Stop blocking sanctions against Russia. Stop giving Putin a free pass. And stop being his useful idiot.
