Bath and Body Works: Train Your Employees to Serve Special Needs Customers!

For the second time this year, Bath and Body Works personnel asked a group of special needs children to leave their store.

In the latest incident, a group of Missouri high school students were on a scavenger hunt in Chesterfield Mall. The store's manager told their principal that the students probably wouldn't be buying anything, and he'd prefer them not to come in.

Last March, a different Bath and Body Works location asked Crump Elementary special needs students to leave through a side exit to avoid throwing off the store's sales sensor. The students were visiting the store as part of a life skills exercise.

Special needs people of all ages have the right to the same shopping experiences as everyone else. Many shoppers like to browse stores without intent to buy, and it is discriminatory to single out special needs children for doing the same. Special needs children are often quite sensitive, and the actions of these store managers were very hurtful and humiliating. Please sign the petition to ask Bath and Body Works to train their employees to welcome special needs customers!

We, the undersigned, are concerned about the two incidents of discrimination toward special needs children in Bath and Body Works stores over the past year. While we understand you apologized for these incidents and stressed that special needs persons are welcome in your stores, we believe there needs to be more effort made to train staff in welcoming special needs customers.
