Urge President Obama to Protect Idaho's Boulder-White Cloud Mountains

Public lands and critical alpine regions are important for all Americans. Join the many voices and encourage President Obama to designate to Boulder-White Clouds as a national monument. Moument status will protect the area's high-quality habitat, pristine watersheds and rich historical sites well into the future.

The Boulder and White Cloud Mountains of central Idaho (collectively known as the Boulder-White Clouds) are part of the largest unprotected landscape in the lower 48. This spectacular area is characterized by the headwaters of four major rivers and important alpine regions, with 150 peaks over 10,000 feet. An abundance of habitat and critical winter range provide a sanctuary for threatened animal and plant species. Here exists one of the highest elevation salmon runs in the world. This wild country is also the setting for numerous mining ghost towns and Native American sites including historic hunting and fishing grounds.

The Boulder-White Clouds are cherished for their ecological and historical importance and also for exceptional backcountry recreational opportunity and pastoral access. Hikers, skiers, horseman, hunters, mountain bikers, motorized users and ranchers alike share a love of this place. By protecting the landscape and balancing these uses we will ensure the Boulder-White Clouds are left whole and healthy for generations to come.

Encourage President Obama to protect this landscape now and forever!
