Tell Whole Foods to Drop Abusive Pork Supplier!

Whole Foods pork supplier Sweet Step Farms touts itself as a "Step 2" farm producing humanely raised meat. While most of Whole Foods' suppliers are Step 1 farms, Step 2 farms are expected to meet higher standards, including a spacious, enriched environment to keep pigs entertained. A recent Peta investigation shows that isn't the case.

Peta's report found that pigs in the Lancaster, PA-based farm were never given the opportunity to touch grass. They spent most of their time on concrete floors, with some given only five feet of space or kept in darkness. The only time they were allowed access to the outdoors was when they were corralled between sheds, put on scales or sent to be slaughtered.

Conscious consumers buy "Step 2" pork believing that pigs have better lives. This report shows that isn't necessarily the case. Please sign the petition to urge Whole Foods to drop Sweet Step Farms until they demonstrate a consistent commitment to "Step 2" standards of welfare.

We, the undersigned, are concerned that your supplier Sweet Step Farms is not honoring its commitment to "Step 2" pig welfare standards.
