PETITION TO THE HONORABLE ANDREW CUOMO GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK
We, the undersigned NYS concerned citizens, residents, property owners, and taxpayers, hereby urge that NYS Mental Health operations be consolidated at Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center (MVPC) in Utica, NY--NOT at Hutchings Psychiatric Center (HPC) in Syracuse, NY.
Reasons why choosing MVPC is wise and cost-effective:
● Save $19,000,000 needed to upgrade obsolete HPC facilities.
● The MVPC facilities need NO upgrading. They are modern, up-to-date, and codes-compliant.
● Millions of taxpayer dollars already spent to construct the modern MVPC facilities would be wasted, if MVPC facilities are now abandoned.
● Qualified buyers want to purchase the HPC property.
● Sustain the fragile Utica area economy. (Avoid the loss of 139 jobs from staff layoffs. Maintain demand for local goods and services used in MVPC operations.)
* Protect the rights and safety of those suffering from mental health, thier families, and the community at large.
