Delhi: Retire Elephants From Your Streets Now

Delhi has taken an important step for elephants by not issuing new elephant licenses. But wildlife and environmental groups believe the government can do more by retiring all of the city's legal and illegal street elephants from the urban area.

Elephants do not belong in a bustling city like Delhi. Their safety is at risk, and elephants put human lives at risk. Street elephants suffer physically, emotionally and mentally. Delhi's population is also projected to increase by 40 percent by 2020.
