Burtch Road Extension is no longer a viable option as part of Kelowna's transportation plan. It cuts through a sensitive ecosystem without solving any traffic problems. This green wetland habitat supports endangered species and under government regulations must be protected and preserved. Wildlife and people require this sanctuary for their well-being. Road pollution will destroy this environment now and for future generations. City Council must halt the Burtch Road Extension project until comprehensive environmental and scientific assessments are completed. Munson Pond Park is a complex bio network that relies on the area outside the current park boundaries for its continued health and long term sustainability. City council will save millions by designating the entire wetlands as a park, and naming the Munson Pond Wetlands Corridor as a pedestrian walkway and bike lane with no further development.
