Recalulate the BMI index

Every health professional body refers to the BMI (Body Mass Index) to calculate whether a person is considered overweight.
However, this method of calculation was designed in the 19th Century by a mathematician, in an era when the average height for women was 5ft 1" and average height for men was 5ft 4".
Almost 200 years on our bodies and society have dramatically changed and yet this antiquated method is still in use.
I am campaigning with the view to lobbying the government health ministers to have this BMI scale re-evaluated to give a more realistic ad achieveable goal.
We should be promoting a healthy life style and encuraging people to have a relaistic goal weight which suits their bodies.
A 6ft 2" body builder can weight 16 stone and according to the scale is classed as morbidly obese. This just isn't right is it?
While the BMI scale should be used as a guideline to a healthy weight, it just really isnt practical in todays society.
Unfortunetly we live in a society that promotes beauty and this ultimatley coincides with many eating disorders and low self esteem as many aspire to these unrealistic goals as set out in the old scale.
