Google hosts around 10,000 adverts for ivory on one of its major shopping sites. The Google ads are helping fuel a dramatic surge in elephant tusk trafficking from sub-Saharan Africa to Asian countries.
US President of Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) Allan Thornton said: “While elephants are being mass slaughtered across Africa to produce ivory trinkets, it is shocking to discover that Google, with the massive resources it has at its disposal, is failing to enforce its own policies designed to help protect endangered elephants.”
Google's advertising policies state that Google “doesn’t allow the promotion of products obtained from endangered or threatened species,” including elephant tusks, rhino horns and products made from whales, sharks and dolphins.
Please sign the petition today to urge CEO of Google, Larry Page to have these ivory ads removed and to create better monitoring system for advertisement control.

As someone who can influence what is posted on Google, I am writing to urge you to please remove the adverts for ivory on your site. These ads are helping fuel a dramatic surge in elephant tusk trafficking from sub-Saharan Africa to Asian countries.
Last year alone, an estimated 32,000 elephants were killed in Africa for black-market ivory selling for over £850 per pound.
According to your advertising policies state that Google “doesn’t allow the promotion of products obtained from endangered or threatened species,” including elephant tusks, rhino horns and products made from whales, sharks and dolphins. Therefore ads for products obtained from endangered or threatened species should not be allowed on Google.
I also ask you to please create better monitoring system for advertisement control.
