Push for a ban on hydraulic fracturing in Massachusetts

Also known as fracking, hydraulic fracturing is one of the most dangerous and destructive methods to extract petroleum from the ground. It not only pollutes the residential water supply with petrol, but also affects the wildlife that happens to use the water to stay alive. Some of the water contains so much methane that the water in nearby towns can be set alight with just a match, creating a huge fire hazard not to mention the health risk. The fluid that is pumped into these well in order to obtain the methane is not just water, but a veritable cocktail of chemicals and carcinogens that are not biodegradable and stay in the environment for millions of years. These practces are a travesty and need to change, or at least be altered in such a way that they are not so harmful to humans, animals and the environment.

By signing this petition, you are stating that you won't stand for terrible industry practices and widespread environmental pollution.

Thank you for taking a stand.
