Demand an End on the Fast Food Frenzy

This petition aims to bring obesity in low income areas under control. The claim is that the number of fast food outlets should be limited in poor districts as well as incentives being give to grocery stores to move in. Over the years levels of obesity amoung individuals has been on the rise, particularly in poor or rural areas. Fast food chains have been quick to establish many branches in these areas within short distances. People are unaware of the health hazards of too much fat and sugar intake but since it may be the only filling meal most can afford they don't seem to pay much attention to its effects.

A lack of full-service grocery stores and farmers' markets providing good quality healthy foods like fresh produce are another problem for the inhabitants of these low income districts. Vegetables, fruits and other healthier items may be available in some small stores but are usually of poor quality. This causes people to opt out of buying anything presumed healthier and instead to stick with the supposed delight of a cheap, tasty and filling meal at a fast food outlet.

Without the awareness and facilities these people are running serious risks on their health. It is our obligation as fellow Texans and Americans to look out for the betterment of each fellow American. Sighning this petition and supporting this cause may not solve everything, but it will definitely move us a step further.
