Let us support the Anjouan Scops Owl in its struggle to stay alive

The Anjouan scops owl is small, eared and dark colored. It is  endemic to the Anjouan island of Comoros Islands, it is believed to be extinct since no sighting since 1886, but then it had been rediscovered in 1992 . It is declared as Critically Endangered in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN),and on CITES Appendix II,The Anjouan scops owl population is less than 400.

Threats are caused by humans for habitat clearance for agriculture, timber extraction and and charcoal manufactures , human disturbance and invasion by exotic plants, brought in  black rat and severe cyclones that hit the island.
