Ken Bennett, Don't Threaten to Keep Obama off Arizona Ballot

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett claims he's not a birther, but he is definitely singing to that choir. Bennett has reopened the old "Is Barack Obama really an American?" debate by demanding that Hawaii send him a copy of Obama's birth certificate. If Obama doesn't comply, he's threatening to not include him on the ballot.

Bennett and the 1200 or so Arizona extremists he's schmoozing are apparently not content with either the electronic birth certificate or the hard copy certificate that the White House has released in response to crazy birther conspiracy theories. By involving his state in this issue, Bennett is legitimizing crackpot ramblings that should be regarded as harmless internet hoaxes.

Tell Bennett not to use the Arizona ballot to act out an extremist GOP agenda.

We the undersigned do not understand why you need to reopen the question of Barack Obama's citizenship when the White House has repeatedly released official copies of the President's birth certificate to the public. These documents have been scrutinized and certified by Hawaiian officials and by the media--over and over again. This question has been resoundingly answered: He is an American citizen by birth. Threatening to keep Obama off the Arizona ballot suggests you are acting on the worst, most hateful Republican agenda.
