Help Eradicate Dancing Bears

Although this cruel form of 'entertainment' has been banned from many countries, it still exists in India, Pakistan and Nepal. Every year it is reported that 100 bear cubs are taken from their mothers, killing the mothers in the process. They are then taught to 'dance'.

It is often sloth bears that are used throughout India, it is estimated that there are only 8,000 remaining, and 1,000 of these are kept in captivity as a source of income.

They are made to endure a lifetime of pain and suffering, not only physically but mentally. Often their teeth are often removed and a ring is forced through their nose and a rope pulled through a hole in their upper palate. Every time someone pulls on the rope it causes the bear severe pain. They play music and are then beaten, this creates an association between the music and pain and they 'dance' in response.

It is sickening that anyone can find this entertaining, but unfortunately these beautiful animals are subjected to this every day.
