Stop the U.S. Military War on cats

Companion animals suffer abandonnment frequently on military bases because there is no cohesive policy throughout the services providing for animals during permanent change of service (PCS) Many feral cats discarded by their families are cared for by trap, neuter, return and manage (TNRM) volunteers. Recently the Army in Hawai'i decreed that cats on bases will no longer be tolerated and many will be killed. Please sign our petition to the Hawai'i Congressional Delegation -

Mahalo!

We the undersigned urge Congress to require that the Dept. of Defense
establish a humane policy regarding feral cats on military installations
in the U.S. and abroad.  Trap, Neuter, Return and Manage (TNRM) has
proven to be the ONLY logical and compassionate answer to abandonment of
companion animals;  current regulations regarding permanent change of
station (PCS) and base housing rules do not require responsibility or
provide assistance for personnel in bringing their pets with them. The
resulting problems of abandoned animals often becomes the onus of caring
individuals who, at their own expense, provide veterinary care,
identification, food, sterilization and maintenance . Community based
volunteerism is the basis for much of what is good about America. We
urge Congress to recognize the good works that feral cat caretakers do
and require that the Department of Defense cooperate with these caring
individuals and recognize their service.
