Stop Marine Phosphate Mining in Namibia

Marine phosphate mining will destroy the breeding grounds for fish and affect all marine life that depend on the Benguela current along the Atlantic Ocean, stretching from Angola, Namibia to South Africa. Marine Avian, dolphins, whales, seals, penguins and other marine organisms will be affected by the toxicity of phosphate and will also affect humans who will process it onshore. Worse it will destroy the sustainable Namibian fishing industry which employ 15k people on which millions around the world depend on.

The government has temporarily suspend the clearance given by the ministry of environment to start marine phosphate mining, that means they just want to go through the formalities. In the meantime other two companies have applied to be allowed to mine marine phosphate in Namibian water in the Atlantic Ocean.
