Objection to proposed development of Bill Quay land

*************** INFO ***************
Gateshead Council are currently taking views online at http://public.gateshead.gov.uk/online-applications, use the reference DC/16/01307/FUL to lodge an objection. Emails can be sent to Anneliese Hutchinson at enquiriesdevcon@gateshead.gov.uk.
***********************************

Gateshead MBC have notified a very small number of local residents of a planning application they have received, to develop land next to Gullane Close and Marian Drive for residential purposes. The proposed development is for 30 dwellings of 3 and 4 bedroom houses and 1 bungalow, all detached.

Many residents will remember previous attempts to gain planning permission for the same piece of land, all of which ended in refusal, the last being ruled upon by the then Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport, and the Regions in London (to view the decision letter click here). This is yet another attempt to develop the land and ignore the key reasons previously ruled upon, none of which have changed.

Please take a moment to register your opposition, whether you are a local resident or someone who cares about fighting for areas of wildlife and green open spaces - it is a simple process to fill out the form on the right-hand side of the screen, and only takes a minute!

You can also share the petition with friends and family via Facebook, Twitter, or email.

Thanks.

To Gateshead Council Planning Department,

This petition has been compiled in the space of seven days by representatives of Bill Quay village and those who oppose the planned development.

The petition covers objections to the proposed planning application reference no. DC/16/01307/FUL to develop residential dwellings situated on land designated as a key part of Gateshead local authority’s wildlife corridor. The land is bordered on three sides by Marian Drive, Metro lines, and Gullane Close in Bill Quay.

This petition has been compiled in the space of seven days, and is in addition to many written objections provided direct to the Council’s planning department, official objections posted at the Council’s online portal (http://public.gateshead.gov.uk/online-applications), a separate hand-delivered petition, and mini-report detailing the outcomes of a public meeting on the subject.

Signatories respectfully request the Director of Planning ensure members of the appropriate planning committee are made aware of the petition in advance of any deliberations to determine the outcome on this matter.

Signed,

Bill Quay Residents.
