Scandinavians stand in solidarity with the Irish Together for Yes campaigners, associated campaigns and supporters!

On May 25th 2018 Ireland votes on repealing a constitutional amendment that puts the life of the unborn at the same value as the mother, and therefore restricts abortion in almost all cases. This denies all pregnant women, including rape and incest victims, and those with fatal foetal abnormalities, access to safe abortions in their home country. Despite this, 12 women a day in Ireland either travel abroad for abortions or take abortion pills without medical supervision. A "Yes" vote will allow for the introduction of abortion up to 12 weeks, in line with but at the stricter end of the current legislation in Scandinavia (and all other European countries except Malta).

We stand in solidarity with all the campaigners and their supporters who are working to give women in Ireland access to healthcare they need. Our thoughts are with all the women in Ireland who have suffered unnecessarily under the current legislation.

About the "Together for Yes" campaign: Together for Yes is the national civil society campaign to remove the Eighth Amendment from the Constitution. Together we are campaigning for a more compassionate Ireland that allows abortion care for anyone who needs it. The Together for Yes Campaign Platform brings together a wide range of civil society organisations who represent various sectors of Irish society. We share a unified aim which is to secure a yes vote in the referendum to remove the 8th from the constitution. Website: https://www.togetherforyes.ie/
