Over the last couple of months there have been a number of terrifying dog attacks (New Zealand) the monsters behind the treatment into making these dogs killers are really just getting off lightly. I was at the National Dog show in Kawerau yesterday and all the labeled 'dangerous' dogs where perfect examples of what good ownership can do compared to the horrifying treatment the stereotyped breeds can get into making them fight dogs.
An eight-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl were mauled by two pitbulls which rushed from a property as they walked along a Papakura, South Auckland, street 29th April.
The attack comes only a week after Bay of Plenty woman Virginia Ohlson was mauled to death by a pitbull and a staffordshire cross while out walking in Murupara.
An 85-year-old woman was bitten in the face by a rottweiler outside an Auckland supermarket.
The 50-year-old Otara woman was one of two people bitten by the dog outside the Middlemore Hospital children's department on Monday night....... e.t.c....... the list goes on and on!!!!!!
and it's not just humans being attacked
A Jack Russell terrier has died after saving five children from a mauling by two savage pitbulls.
The tiny dog, called George, leapt to the defence of the children when the two rogue pitbulls threatened them on the way to a dairy in the Taranaki township of Manaia.
The South Taranaki District Council said after Sunday's attack that it intends hunting down all dangerous and unregistered dogs and neutering them.
Richard Rosewarne, 11, said the pitbulls came up behind them and were going for his brother Darryl Wilson, 4.
"George tried to protect us by barking and rushing at them, but they started to bite him -- one on the head and the other on the back," he told the Taranaki Daily News.
"We ran off crying and some people saw what was happening and rescued George."
But nine-year-old George was so badly ripped apart he had to be put down.
Vet Steven Hopkinson, of South Taranaki Animal Health Services, said the injuries were the worst he had seen.
Now if a little hero like George can put his life on the line would you be able to sign this petition in an effort to ask the New Zealand Parliament to think about tighter laws to protect both the public and the dogs!
