Calling All New Yorkers: Let’s Shut Down the Puppy Mill Pipeline in 2021!

Puppy mills are commercial dog-breeding facilities that make money by producing large numbers of puppies as quickly as possible, breeding dogs over and over in cruel conditions. Puppy mill dogs spend their lives confined to cramped cages, never knowing the joys of playtime or human affection.

At any given time, about 2,000 puppies are for sale in pet stores across New York. These puppies arrived at these stores through a pipeline of cruel breeders and middlemen who shipped them in from out-of-state puppy mills. It's a brutally inhumane system, and it's perfectly legal.

But we have the power to change that. A bill to end the retail sale of dogs and shut down the puppy mill pipeline in New York will be introduced in January. This bill almost passed in 2020, but the pet industry fought it hard. That's why we need your voice! We are confident that 2021 can be the year we get it over the finish line and make it state law.

New Yorkers, are you ready to be a part of this effort and make history in 2021? If so, sign up to be alerted when we need you to take action and help shut down the puppy mill pipeline!
