Support Nutritional Health for Native American Children

The high rate of Native American children who are obese or have type 2 diabetes is alarming. Current data suggests that one out of every two Native kids will develop type 2 diabetes in their lifetime. Diet-related diseases like type 2 diabetes are caused largely by the long-term destruction of the traditional diet of Native Americans and the substitution of a "diet of poverty."

This dangerous trend demands our immediate attention.

Native American communities need culturally appropriate and community-based nutrition education programs to increase knowledge and foster healthy eating habits.

This approach, coupled with providing quality physical activity programming, can serve as a game-changer in the fight against type 2 diabetes.

Pledge to support Native American communities as they foster long-term community change and fight to overcome the serious health issues that face Native American children.
