UK Government: Stop Approving Arms Sales to Israel

Israeli security forces are imminently preparing to destroy an entire Palestinian community in the West Bank, including homes and a school. International pressure against the demolition has helped delay it temporarily. Howeverour sources on the ground in Palestine confirmed that the bulldozers are at the village, ready to destroy the community once they have the green light.

The UK government is fully aware of this demolition, and in fact has warned that doing so would be a war crime. To make matters worse, some of the bulldozers ready to destroy the village are made by JCB – a British company. So when will the government stop approving equipment and arms sales to Israel?

This devastating pending demolition is emblematic of Israel's system of militarised repression of Palestinians, enabled by states around the world. That's why grassroots campaigners in Ireland lobbied their government to take action, and their hard work has paid off - the Irish senate recently voted to ban trade with illegal settlements. The UK must follow this example and, and we will continue to put pressure on the government to stop rewarding human rights abusing regimes with more trade and arms deals.
