Stop Public Officials from Betting on Their Own Decisions

You should expect public officials to serve you and to make decisions in your interest, not their own. But an alarming capability has emerged: officials are able to use insider knowledge about legislation, national security, and government policy to anonymously profit from prediction markets, a new and loosely regulated betting arena.

When officials can place financial bets on the very events they control, the incentive flips. They stop working for constituents and start working for their bottom line. That's not public service. It's a conflict of interest.

And right now, it's legal.

The White House has made only toothless attempts to discourage this behavior. Without meaningful legislation with real consequences, the corruption will continue, and public trust, already at historic lows, will erode further.

We're demanding that Congress pass comprehensive legislation banning government officials — and their spouses and dependents — from trading in prediction markets on political events and policy outcomes, close existing loopholes, and establish enforceable ethics guidance with full financial disclosure requirements.

Every day Congress fails to act, officials can keep placing inside bets while you suffer the consequences of government corruption. The time for toothless gestures is over. Sign now and demand real accountability.

Tell Congress: public officials must prioritize the public interest, not their own profits.
