Permit Return of Enniskillen Poppy Day Bomb Memorial to Site of Unveiling

On 8th November 1987 twelve people were murdered and scores injured by a no warning IRA bomb in Enniskillen as they met to remember those who died for freedom in two World Wars. The Poppy Day Massacre was a crime which shocked the world. To this day no one has ever been charged.

30 years to the day - 8th November 2017 - a memorial was unveiled on the site of the bombing. However, many were shocked when almost immediately it was removed due to the Trustees of St Michael’s not yet granting consent for the memorial to remain On the site of the bombing
The world was impressed by the fact that the Enniskillen Bombing failed to divide the community. In that spirit we ask that the Trustees of St Michael’s  consent to the memorial where it can remain as a permanent tribute to the innocents who lost their lives and the injured.
