Demand Maximum Penalty for South Carolina Men Accused of Throwing Firecrackers at and Injuring Chained Dogs

People need to know that torturing animals will not be tolerated! Maximum penalties should be imposed! Even worse recording a video of abuse for social media!! Please read more about this case from the Associated Press:

Police say detectives monitoring social media over the holiday weekend watched a live video of two men throwing fireworks at dogs chained in a backyard in South Carolina.

Investigators say the men threw dozens of firecrackers at the dogs Friday in Rock Hill. One dog tried to hide in a shelter, and the men threw fireworks into it.

Police went to the home Tuesday and found fireworks and other evidence. Animal control took the dogs, noting they appeared injured and needed to see a veterinarian. Police spokesman Mark Bollinger says officers had to wait to get search warrants over the holiday weekend.

Officers arrested 25-year-old Tevin Anderson and charged him with cruelty to animals. Police are still looking for 21-year-old Deangelo Roseboro on similar charges. It wasn't known whether Anderson has an attorney to contact for comment.

Mr. Kevin Brackett                                                                   York Solicitor's Office                                                         1675-1A York Highway                                                             York, SC 29745

Dear Mr. Brackett

I am writing this letter to bring to your attention a petition I have started on CARE2 demanding the maximum penalty in the case of Tevin Danard and Anderson Deangelo Raheem Roseboro of Rock Hill accused of throwing fire crackers at three chained dogs. Not only throwing dozens of firecrackers at the cowering dogs but having the audacity to film it on their cellphones.

I am appalled by this crime, not only for the harm to the innocent dogs but for what its callousness says about these two young men. It has been proven that enjoying torturing animals is one of the precursors to sociopathic behavior.

According to The New York Times: “The FBI has found that a history of cruelty to animals is one of the traits that regularly appear in its computer records of serial rapists and murderers, and the standard diagnostic and treatment manual for psychiatric and emotional disorders lists cruelty to animals as a diagnostic criterion for conduct disorders.”

So anyone who dismisses or diminishes such a crime because it is "only animals" involved does not realize that there is a lot more at stake.

I appreciate your time and hope you will consider my petition.

Sincerely,

Patti McCallion
