Big Banks: Cancel the Debt for global recovery from Covid-19

Covid-19 could push up to 150 million people into extreme poverty. 

At the same time, many large banks and speculators - including Blackrock, JP Morgan, HSBC and UBS - continue to demand debt repayments from countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Right now, African countries are spending three times more on debt repayments to banks and speculators than it would cost to vaccinate the entire continent against Covid-19.

Our demands to private creditors



  • Cancel the debts for low and middle income countries that request it to help them respond and recover from the pandemic

  • Play a full part in international processes including G20's Common Framework, granting requests for debt relief through this process

  • If countries can't pay, don't force them to by taking them to court
