The first day of a child's life should be a time of excitement, wonder and hope. Yet in the world's poorest countries, the first day is all too often the last.

Every year, 1 million babies die on their first day. Yet the vast majority of these deaths are completely preventable.

Whether it's complications at birth, being born prematurely or catching an infection, a fully trained and equipped midwife could save their lives.

We believe that if every baby was born with the help of a midwife more children will see their second day, weeks, years and decades.
