Protect our kids: Dont leave e-cigarettes out of tobacco policies

Tobacco use is on the rise with teens and young adults. It's no secret that tobacco companies have specifically marketed to kids, using e-cigarettes to addict the next generation. Meanwhile, these companies have spent big money to create exemptions for e-cigarettes — ensuring that they're not treated the same way as other tobacco products when it comes to taxation and smoke-free laws.

Increasing tobacco taxes is proven to stop kids from smoking before they ever start, and what's more, it's a policy that helps to get adults to quit. Right now, our tobacco tax is nearly $1 below the national average and they're trying to reduce taxes on e-cigarettes. When it comes to protecting our kids and our health, we can and must do better.
