More cases of swine flu (H1N1 flu) are being diagnosed in the United States each day. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the swine flu has lead to 141 confirmed cases and 1 death in the U.S. as of May 1.
It is important for all of us to stay up-to-date on the spread of this disease and know what we can do to protect our families, our communities and ourselves. Fortunately, the CDC has responded quickly and aggressively to the expanding outbreak by providing information to help health care providers, public health officials and the public to help reduce transmission and respond to the disease.
It's not often that we get to say thank you for a job well done. Please join us in recognizing their rapid communication about this public health emergency – and urge the CDC to continue providing timely and effective communication with health care providers, public health officials and the public.

It's not often that we get to say thank you for a job well done. We appreciate the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) rapid response to the evolving public health emergency from influenza A (H1N1), or swine flu. It is important for all of us to stay informed about the spread of this disease, and to know the best practical approaches for protecting our families, our communities and ourselves.
As our schools, businesses and communities are taking action to slow the spread of this outbreak, we urge the CDC to continue providing timely and effective communication about the disease and its prevention with health care providers, public health officials, the media and the public.
