Native American Heritage Month Must Be More Than a Celebration

Every day, St. Bonaventure Indian Mission & School delivers approximately 14,000 gallons of clean water to more than 200 Navajo families across the Eastern Navajo Nation.
For households without running water, having enough for drinking, cooking, bathing, and cleaning requires constant planning. And access to water is only one challenge. Families may also struggle with safe housing, reliable heat, nourishing food, and other resources many of us rely on every day.
St. Bonaventure sees these challenges firsthand. Through water delivery, home repairs, heating assistance, food programs, and other outreach services, we work directly with Navajo families to help meet essential needs throughout the community.
Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate, but it is also a time to listen, learn, and recognize the realities Navajo families continue to face. Every family should have access to clean water, safe housing, nourishing food, reliable heat, and opportunities to thrive.
Add your voice in support of Navajo families and greater access to the basic necessities every family deserves.
