We the people have requested the need to have Veterans Day be an observed holiday, as other holidays are recognized, and schools to be closed on this day. Those that have taken an oath to uphold and defend the constitution, and those that have died in defending this oath should have a day of remembrance and appreciation. We feel that as other holidays are important, this day, the 11th day of November, is just as important as others, and that it should be statewide and nationwide one of our most important holidays of the year. To many have gone unnoticed throughout our history, for their sacrifices and commitment to this Nation. It is time that this day be one of rest and gratitude for those that have pledged their allegiance and lives to the United States of America. All government function and schools should be closed on this day to pay tribute to the men and women who have made this sacrifice.
