URGENT: All eyes on Sudan. Join us to demand protection for civilians

Meet Haleema.

On 10 June 2023, her family home was stormed by members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) who began shooting. In the attack, Haleema was shot her in her leg and chest.

Tragically, her son and her mother died instantly from their injuries.

After the attack, Haleema was forced to flee to Chad for safety but she was in agonising pain as her bullet wounds had become infected.

"It was a terrible journey. I was in a lot of pain and desperately needed to see a doctor. My leg was beginning to rot and smell bad."

After several weeks of travelling, Haleema finally reached Chad where she was taken to a hospital to receive treatment. She now lives at the Farchana refugee camp where our team provides her rehabilitation support to help her walk.

This brutal war is devastating the lives of millions of people in Sudan.

In recent weeks tensions have escalated and the situation is now desperate.

Our teams are alarmed by the rapid spread of violence. There have been widespread executions that have placed thousands of people under significant threat. Homes, hospitals and markets have been destroyed, medical supplies are running out, and access to humanitarian aid is almost impossible.

Unfortunately, the people who are most at risk are people with disabilities, women and children who aren't able to flee quickly.

Vincent Dalonneau, our Country Director in Sudan says, "This wave of violence particularly affects the most vulnerable people, especially those with disabilities. The consequences of this conflict also worsen injuries which, if not treated quickly could lead to permanent disabilities.

At Humanity & Inclusion, we are committed to supporting people affected by the violence in Sudan, but we can't do it alone.

Please sign the petition today to demand the urgent protection of civilians and safe access for vital aid.

Together, we can ensure people like Haleema are not forgotten.
