Tell Ohio Republicans: Stop Cutting the Early Voting Day Period
Ohio Republicans are doing everything in their power to limit an "early voting day period" that hundreds of thousands of Ohio voters depend on.
Early voting day periods became necessary when 174,000 voters left the polls in November 2004 due to impossibly long lines at voting stations. Since then, Ohio Republicans have slashed the 34-day early voting period to just 11 days.
These cuts would be managable--except Republicans have added extra boundaries. Early voting is restricted to 8am-5pm, and there is no voting on weekends. In 2008, over two-thirds of early voters voted on nights and weekends. Now, these voters will have to leave work if they want to cast their ballot.
We can't let Ohio Republicans continue these attempts to keep legitimate voters away from the polls!

Cutting back the early voting day period from 34 to 11 days is troublesome, but what really slashes voting rights is the elimination of nighttime and weekend voting. Without these two time-periods,
Ohioans are forced to choose between their jobs and casting a ballot--a completely unfair and unnecessary dilemma.
