Help Noah Bring Adaptive Sports to Native People with Disabilities

Native Americans have the highest per capita disability rate in the U.S. and yet there are almost no programs on the reservations for adaptive sports. Noah Blue Elk Hotchkiss knows about this first hand.

About five years ago, Noah's family was involved in a severe car accident and he lost the use of his legs. But that hasn't stopped him from participating in all kinds of adaptive sports from basketball to skiing to white water rafting. Now, he wants to provide the opportunity for others in similar situations.

"I have learned to focus on my abilities instead of being defined by my disability. I have met many disabled Natives who have no idea about the opportunities that are out there for them and I want to use my gifts as an athlete to be able to inspire others to a life that brings wellness to our Native communities."

Through the Running Strong for American Indian Youth Dreamstarter grant, Noah's dream could become a reality. The Dreamstarter grant program helps the next generation of American Indian youth make their dreams come true. But they need your support to do so. Please sign the petition to show that you believe in Noah's dream and to help the next generation of American Indian youth achieve their goals.
