Public apology from Rapper Lil Wayne to the Family of Emmett Till and the Black/African American Com

We are well aware of the history of controversy that comes from  Hiphop culture. However, there comes a time when artist must be held accountable for thier actions and, as in this case, their lyrical content.

Dwayne Carter Jr. who goes by the stage name Lil Wayne has recently been featured on a song entitled "Karate Chop" by another artist named "Future". In this song Lil Wayne made a very insensative reference to Emmett Till who was a young African-American man who was murdered by white men after allegedly whistling at a white girl in the year of 1955. Wayne used the death of Emmett Till as a metaphor for "rough sexing" a female. The lyric was:

"Beat the p***y up like Emmett Till".

As many people already know, Emmett Till was beaten to death. We feel this was very inappropriate and disrespectful to not only the African-American Community but to the Family of Emmett Till. Also,  we feel the need to mention that a few years back Lil Wayne also had another disrespectful song using a tragic part of African History. The song was entitled "Whip it Like a Slave". We can stop there.

We applaud the action taken by the Rev. Jesse Jackson that caused the record label to remove this part of the song. Now its time for the Artist who recited the lyric to step up to the plate.

That is why we, The Militant Mind Movement, are DEMANDING A PUBLIC APOLOGY FROM THE RAP ARTIST KNOWN AS LIL WAYNE TO THE BLACK/AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY AND THE FAMILY OF EMMETT TILL! We urge you to please sign this petition in honor of the memory of Emmett Till and in support of the Emmett Till Family. We, the Community, must also let today's hiphop generation know that the history of Black/African people must not be made a mockery of!
