Create Child friendly carriages on trains to ease travel for parents and keep other passengers more peaceful

As a single mother of seven, including young twins and a physically disabled child, who relies currently on public transport, I sometimes fear days out, that should be enjoyable, due to the stresses of limited space on trains.

I am asking South Western Railway, the train company I use the most, to make family-oriented improvements to one carriage on each of their trains:

  • More space for pushchairs to stop them blocking the exits off the train.
  • More luggage space.
  • Surroundings decorated in a child-friendly, interesting way, such as an engaging mural or interactive activities, with sensory items for children with learning disabilities.
  • Seats designed to be more comfortable for children too, not just adults.
  • A policy against intolerant behaviour from other passengers towards children and their parents.

Even just a single carriage aimed at families would not only benefit them but also other passengers who are child free would be able to enjoy their journey in peace.

Help keep the children entertained on journeys whilst the parents travel with less stress ready for their family day out.
