Stand with Women Like Tania. Demand Big Clothing Brands Pay A Living Wage!

Tania works up to 12 hours a day in a garment factory in Bangladesh. At most, she takes home $169 a month; on average she's paid only 55 cents an hour.

The young mother is among the 1 in 3 women working in the garment industry in Bangladesh who are forced to live separately from their children because they are not paid enough money to live on. Tania only sees her four-year-old child twice per year.

Big clothing brands entrench women like Tania in a cycle of poverty by not ensuring a living wage is paid. The Australian fashion industry turned over $23.5 billion in 2018 and yet allows the payment of poverty wages to the women who make our clothes.

Australian brands have the power to enable these workers to lift themselves out of poverty — but they must take action. They must ensure workers are paid living wages that will allow them to buy enough nutritious food, live in decent housing, send their children to school and get healthcare when they are sick.

As consumers, we have the power to force this industry to change and ensure these garment workers receive a living wage.

Sign the pledge today to tackle poverty in the fashion industry by demanding big clothing brands pay a living wage to the women who make our clothes.
