This month, Congress is getting ready to pass legislation that would erase state laws safeguarding consumers, kids, and content creators from AI. We need your help to stop it.
Tucked away in a major budgeting bill, politicians have slipped in legislation that would preempt any state law on artificial intelligence for the next decade (Politico). That means no laws to stop the spread of political deepfakes, no laws guaranteeing transparency when AI makes a decision about your employment or housing, no laws on AI whatsoever.
Ultimately, it's a gift to Big Tech that's going to come back to bite us. But by shining a light on this harmful legislation, we have a chance to stop it before Congress signs the measure into law.
